Unofficial, approximate letter grade equivalents

These are UNOFFICIAL, and apply only to the mid-session test. We do NOT promise to use the same scale when we convert your overall course score to a letter grade.

This was a relatively tough midterm and it was somewhat too long, so it seems fair to let 36/88 (about 41 percent) be the approximate minimum grade for a C- on this test.

SCORE OUT OF 84 APPROXIMATE LETTER GRADE EQUIVALENT

  74-88 A- or A
  55-73 B-, B, or B+
  36-54 C-, C, or C+
   0-35 D, D+ or F

Reminder: You must get at least 50 percent on labs and at least 40 percent on the final exam to pass the course; to have a chance of getting C- or higher, you need at least 50 percent on the final.
