dress

==========

The government of Islamic Republic practices strict dress and behavioral code on females appearing in public. All Iranian and foreign females appearing in public should cover their hair and wear a dress that covers the body except the face, toes and hands!

Men are advised not to wear short sleeves and short trousers are strictly forbidden.

Unlike some other countries practicing Islamic law, women are allowed to drive vehicles in public. Females should use the "Women Only" services of the public transportation. There is also "Women Only" service in swimming pools, public beaches, ski slopes and other sport facilities. Jogging in public should not evade the dress rules.

All Iranians and foreigners if accompanied by members of the opposite sex in public should carry documents proving that their companions are their first degree (father, mother, childern, spouse) or second degree (brothers or sisters) relatives. Such documents should be shown upon request to the members of law enforcement task force (or Niroye Entezami, Formerly, Islamic Revolutionary Comittee).

Please obey these rules if you want to enjoy your visit and have pleasant holidays in Iran.
